How do I clean my mat?
We all want our mat to be with us for a long, long time. That is why it is essential to take good care and maintenance of our mat.
From El Yoga Mola we give you some tips to pamper your yoga mat.
You have to take into account what material your mat is made of, because it will depend on it whether you apply one or the other care:
- If your mat is made of Eco Pu and Natural Rubber
This material is currently the highest quality material for yoga mats.
t has good strength and grip.
To clean it, preferably with a damp cloth and let it dry.
ut be careful! Do not expose it to direct sunlight or you will run out of mat.
You can also use a natural mat cleaner, although we only recommend the one we have developed specifically for our mats. You can buy it here.
- If your mat is made of Microfiber and Natural Rubber
This material, besides being super tasty, has a particular characteristic: it absorbs liquids.
To clean your microfiber mat, you can either use a damp cloth or put it in the washing machine.
If you choose the latter option, remember to use a short program (wool type) and do not add any detergent or softener.
Another good option is to wash it in the bathtub or shower, and use a soft sponge to rub the stains.
Whichever option you choose, it should always be left to air dry out of direct sunlight.
- If you have a wool mat
This type of mat is preferred by Kundalini Yoga practitioners.
Although it may appear to be delicate in use, the wool mat is easy to wash.
You can wash it by hand or machine.
Use a mild detergent in the washing machine.
Never iron it or put it in the dryer.
Also, for very persistent stains, you can take it to the dry cleaner for dry cleaning.
- If your mat is made of Jute
Jute mats have a rough and slightly rough appearance, the main characteristic of jute.
To keep your jute mat in perfect condition, we recommend that you clean it with a damp cloth.
You can also use our eco natural mat cleaner, specially made for all our mats.
Remember that before rolling, it must be completely dry.
- If you have a TPE mat
This type of mat is currently widely used, as it has a very good quality-price ratio.
As with all other mats, the best option is to clean it with a damp cloth or by adding our mat cleaning spray.
You could also clean it in the shower or bathtub.
- If you have a cork mat
Cork is an anti-allergenic and anti-microbial material. For this reason, it has become one of the most demanded mats in recent years.
It is very easy to clean and maintain, simply use a damp cloth or use our eco-natural mat cleaner.
We recommend that whenever you use your cork mat you apply our mat cleaner and once dry, put it away again. It is the most hygienic way to keep your mat in perfect condition.
